Instructions for living a life:
Pay attention.
Be astonished.
Tell about it.
Mary Oliver is one of the best-selling poets in American history, and someone whose way of being in the world I deeply admire. She wrote about nature on its own terms — herons, ponds, grasshoppers, and light — without needing people at the center. In college, I read and re-read her poem “Wild Geese.” It reminded me to pay attention to the beauty of the natural world, and that we humans are just one part of it. That’s what I hope these cards and photographs invite you to do, too.
If this way of slowing down and noticing feels useful, Reflection can also be part of an individual Grounded Present session — alongside movement, breathwork, or meditation.
