See How We Can Work TogetherGrounding
Grounding involves paying attention to your relationship with yourself and with the world around you — your body, your mind, your surroundings, and other people.
Noticing and reflecting on where you focus your attention can help you recognize yourself more clearly. You can feel more comfortable, connected, and like yourself, rather than trying to emulate someone else’s idea of being “put together.”
The point is not to become someone different, but to better understand yourself and what supports you — and to cultivate more of what does.
In Practice
Grounding can take different forms, and the practices often overlap. Movement, meditation, breathwork, and reflection can all be ways of paying attention to yourself, your surroundings, and the present moment.
Movement. Movement, including yoga and stretching, can support flexibility, strength, and mobility. Paying attention to how your body responds to movement can help bring your mind and body together and help you feel more at home in yourself.
Surroundings. What is around you matters too. Paying attention to your surroundings can help you notice what feels supportive and what you want more of around you.
Reflection. Reflection can help you notice your thoughts, your surroundings, and how you relate to them.
Think about caring for yourself the way you would care for a plant. You learn its nature, its needs, and you create the conditions where it can thrive. People are the same.
